A popular attraction in Sierra Vista are the ghost towns. Charleston and Millville were two bedroom communities that were born of the Tombstone mining boom in the 1880s.

When the mines in the area flooded, Millville was abandoned en masse. Shortly thereafter, Charleston was abandoned, though it had been considered to be even tougher than Tombstone.

Another local ghost town is the Fairbank Historic Town site. It is located on the San Pedro River near highway 82. It was, at one point, an important railroad depot.

As it was gradually abandoned, it has now become a popular tourist site. The schoolhouse was even restored and serves as the Fairbank Visitor Center.

Vista Village residents thrive on the cultural amenities that Sierra Vista and the surrounding parks have to offer. With such a rich cultural heritage, it will be difficult to be bored for too long in the area. Between the hummingbird canyons and the many ghost towns of the area, Sierra Vista has much to offer locals and visitors alike.
