Garden Canyon is the home of a once populated military base, Fort Huachuca. Located in Cochise County, this area is also known for the amazing parks and trails which locals and tourists enjoy. The homes surrounding this area live in a natural setting with plenty of trees and lots of room to move.

This area backs up to the Huachuca Mountains and has stellar views. While there is not a lot of housing developments, most homes have ample acreage and are ideal for keeping animals or for those who have children. Garden Canyon residents will attend the Sierra Vista Public schools. They have a good reputation as a great school district. Garden Canyon Activities

Garden Canyon Park

About 15 miles from Sierra Vista’s city center is the Garden Canyon Park. This is a quiet area with rippling waterfalls and nice shaded areas perfect for a family picnic. Driving up to the canyon is an adventure, as the road is a little steep, but it is worth the drive. Many people love exploring the cliff walls and looking at the smoke marks and the various ancient petroglyphs that adorns them. There are plenty of nice trees and ample birds for those who like bird watching. This area has been inhabited by ancient people for millennia.

Ghosts Towns

There are numerous ghost towns in this portion of the old west. Most tourists that come through this area are looking for one of these abandoned wonders. These unique towns have an allure all to themselves and to explore them is an amazing adventure. It is nothing to find old arrowheads, or pot sherds and various other historical findings all in these towns. Spend plenty of time going through yesteryear and exploring the many things left behind. Some of the ghost towns still have people that live in them, believe it or not.

Fort Huachuca National Historic Landmark

Close to the border was the perfect place to put in the military base of Fort Huachuca. Built in 1877, this area is still an active army post. There are more than 70,000 acres to explore. With an old cemetery museums and lots to see and explore, this is a popular historic landmark.
